Polaroid
A long term collaboration with Polaroid resulted in several new and fun digital photography products. The first, Polaroid Cube, was a tiny action camera. This product set the stage for an entire product and packaging family that included a set of mounting accessories, bundle packaging, and then a second-generation Cube+ camera. Finally an instant print digital camera, Polaroid Snap, completed the portfolio. A modern interpretation of this classic brand was carried throughout the product and packaging design.

Cube
Packaging
The small size of the camera became a challenge when designing a package for retail. The exaggerated box size and thermoform plastic pedestals help display the product to stand out on shelf. A 3 box size modular set was developed for the complete range of mounting accessories. Unique internal fitments hold each accessory in a base carton, then enclosed with a custom printed sleeve. Product packout specifications were critical for the components to fit correctly in the compact cartons.

Cube+
Packaging
The second generation Cube+ included more product features, but within the same ID. The packaging design had to differentiate the products. Inclusion of an accessory mount naturally required the box to be bigger and set the Cube+ apart from the Cube, while still retaining the core pedestal aesthetic. The added package space increased the printable area to highlight the new features.

Snap
Packaging
The Polaroid Snap was a fresh take on an instant print photo camera. The playfulness of the camera needed to translate into the packaging and presence on shelf. The iconic rainbow Polaroid brand stripe became the focus of the concept. The front thermoform gave the product a “toy” feel while allowing the rainbow background to pop through.
