Lyft

The intent of designing packaging for Lyft was to make a welcome kit for their drivers, giving them everything they need to get started. The first generation Glowstache and second generation Amp were fun e-commerce gift box projects. Extending the playfulness of the products and brand through to the packaging built employee loyalty and rewarded them for being a part of Lyft.

Glowstache

Packaging

Two unique packaging forms were used to create a one of a kind out-of-box-experience: a triangular mailer box and paper tube. The internal paper tube holds all product components in a custom expanded polyethylene foam structure. The tube and foam are intended to be a storage case for the Lyft Glowstache and accessories when the driver is not active.

Ideation

Since this project was not bound by any retailer constraints, the free exploration of opening styles, product presentations, materials, and graphics was exclusively to celebrate the brand and the product.

Budget, manufacturing limitations, schedule and product protection were the natural project requirements that narrowed the concepts taken forward.

Amp

Packaging

The second generation package for the Amp product was an opportunity to create an entirely different out-of-box-experience. The thermoformed top product tray with generous radii gave the illusion that the Amp was radiating outward, like the actual lights on the display when in use.
